Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork is an agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot for carrying out complex, multi-step work across Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft describes it as an execution surface that can use organizational context, files, email, calendars, Teams, and other connected services while showing its actions in the conversation.

What it does

Cowork can prepare and edit documents, research information, work with email and calendars, post to Teams, manage files, and run longer tasks. Microsoft’s application card says sensitive actions require explicit user approval and that the product operates within existing Microsoft 365 permissions and security boundaries.

Availability and pricing

Microsoft announced worldwide general availability on June 16, 2026 for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The GA announcement says Cowork requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription and adds usage-based Copilot Credit charges. Microsoft lists pay-as-you-go and committed-volume options; buyers should confirm current terms on the official pricing page.
