How to turn a document into audio

Supported document formats

The converter supports text-based PDF, Microsoft Word DOCX, EPUB, OpenDocument ODT, RTF, Markdown, TXT, HTML, CSV and JSON files, plus text pasted directly into the editor. Files can be up to 40 MB. Scanned or image-only PDFs need optical character recognition (OCR) before they can be read.

Why this converter can stay free

Many text-to-speech services send documents to a server and charge for each character or minute generated. Kingy uses the open-source Kokoro 82M voice model inside your browser instead. The first conversion downloads roughly 100 MB for the model, which the browser can cache for later visits. Your own device performs the speech generation, so there is no paid speech API behind the button.
