OpenArt’s strongest idea is not one-click video. Its official Director guide describes a loop: start from an idea or media, let Director assemble a storyboard, review it scene by scene, then request exact changes. That is a more credible workflow than pretending a single prompt reliably creates a finished film.
The pricing problem is equally specific. OpenArt’s public plan page estimates how many videos each plan can generate, but explicitly excludes Director from those estimates. A buyer can see the monthly credit pool without seeing how many Director projects it will actually cover.

Director is OpenArt’s conversational video-building layer. It helps organize a project into a storyboard and lets users request changes to individual scenes. It is not a deterministic timeline editor, a rights-clearance service or proof that generated characters will remain consistent across a long video.

Pricing: access is clear, Director capacity is not
OpenArt’s pricing page displayed the following discounted monthly figures when checked on August 28, 2026. Pricing can vary by billing term or promotion, so verify checkout.

The page also showed higher struck-through prices. The controlling cost is the checkout total and billing term. More importantly, OpenArt labels its approximate video counts as excluding Director. Those counts cannot be used to estimate Director capacity.
The missing test
Create one fixed 30-second, three-scene project. Record the opening credit balance, first storyboard charge, each scene revision, every failed generation, upscale and export. Repeat once from the same starting assets. Report median credits per accepted second, not merely credits for the first draft.
Workflow and output fidelity
The official guide’s scene-by-scene loop is sensible. A real review must test whether conversational edits stay scoped. If the user asks to change a prop in scene two, does Director preserve the face, clothing, lighting and camera direction in scenes one and three?
Export testing should compare the preview and downloaded file for resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio, captions, watermark, colour shifts and scene timing. It should preserve raw first-pass and final exports. Kingy did not perform those checks in this zero-spend pass.
Commercial rights and licensing
OpenArt’s terms say OpenArt does not claim ownership of the output, while commercial use is tied to Plus or higher tiers. Free outputs carry a watermark that the terms say cannot be removed.
The terms also grant OpenArt a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence over user content for service operation and moderation. They say inputs and outputs may be shared with third-party AI partners. Those provisions do not mean OpenArt owns every project; they do mean “I own my output” is not the whole privacy or licensing story.
For client work, save the plan, generation date and terms, and confirm that every uploaded reference image or audio track is authorized.
Cancellation and refunds
OpenArt’s terms describe purchases as generally non-refundable except where law requires otherwise. Users can cancel, but access continues to the end of the paid period and unused time is not prorated.
Kingy did not subscribe or cancel. Before purchase, capture the renewal date and cancel in Payment Settings—or contact support—before the next charge. Do not buy a large plan assuming an unused balance will be refunded.
Privacy and project retention
OpenArt’s privacy policy and terms should be read together. The terms say private subscriber creations are stored during the subscription until deletion or the subscription ends. Private, unpublished creations for non-subscribers may be stored for seven days. Deletion is described as final.
That can be useful for cleanup, but it is not a promise that processing happens only inside OpenArt. The terms permit third-party AI partners. Avoid uploading confidential campaigns, unreleased products or identifiable people unless the current plan, partner flow and client agreement allow it.
