AI Tool Profile
MiniMax M2
MiniMax’s M2 open-weight coding and agentic language model.
Before you buy
Best for: Developers retaining an M2 workflow who can assess self-hosting resources and current successors.
Price: Canada/CAD: C$0 weight download; licensed use and compute are separate
Included: The official model card provides weights and serving instructions under a modified MIT license.
Main limits: Ten billion active parameters do not mean a ten-billion-parameter memory footprint: the full model has 230 billion parameters. Review the actual license.
What Kingy showed: Curtis’s M2 video describes research, code-run-fix and dashboard-building demonstrations, alongside separately attributed benchmark discussion.
Buying details checked 2026-10-22 with region and currency stated above. Historical demonstrations and the broader fact ledger keep their own dates.

Which plan is worth considering
Canada/CAD: C$0 weight download; licensed use and compute are separate. The official model card provides weights and serving instructions under a modified MIT license.
Limits that affect the purchase
Ten billion active parameters do not mean a ten-billion-parameter memory footprint: the full model has 230 billion parameters. Review the actual license. The downloadable weights have no listed download charge. Hardware, electricity and hosted inference remain separate. Local serving is a different route from MiniMax Agent. No current free hosted promotion is inferred from launch-era wording.
What the existing demonstration shows
Curtis’s M2 video describes research, code-run-fix and dashboard-building demonstrations, alongside separately attributed benchmark discussion. The walkthrough does not establish independent benchmark rankings, a matched current-model comparison or local hardware fit. The original public video description and chapters identify these selected demonstrations; they are not a complete attempt ledger, independent quality score or current pricing test. See the retained Kingy demonstration.
Sources and buying-review date
Buying details checked October 22, 2026. Plan research uses current official sources; demonstration descriptions use the retained Kingy record and any captured creator chapters. No new subscription, paid generation or checkout was performed. The buying-review date does not renew every claim in the broader facts ledger.
