AI Tool Profile
OpenCode
An open-source coding-agent client for local or hosted models.
Before you buy
Best for: Technical creators learning a provider-neutral coding-agent harness with explicit tool permissions.
Price: Canada/CAD: C$0 client; model and hosting costs separate
Included: The client supports provider selection, local endpoints, project instructions and coding tools. Optional Go and Zen services have separate billing.
Main limits: Permissions are not OS-level containment. A small local model connecting successfully does not make it a reliable coding agent.
What Kingy showed: The August 21 guide records OpenCode 1.18.21 connecting to Ollama and invoking read tools; both substantive small-model agent trials failed.
Buying details checked 2026-10-22 with region and currency stated above. Historical demonstrations and the broader fact ledger keep their own dates.

Which plan is worth considering
Canada/CAD: C$0 client; model and hosting costs separate. The client supports provider selection, local endpoints, project instructions and coding tools. Optional Go and Zen services have separate billing. The dead-proxy loopback check was not a packet capture or proof of zero egress. No new installation or task run was performed.
Limits that affect the purchase
Permissions are not OS-level containment. A small local model connecting successfully does not make it a reliable coding agent. The client is free; current OpenCode 2 setup differs from the pinned v1 test. Provider APIs and OpenAI-compatible local servers are supported; the client does not supply unlimited inference.
What the existing demonstration shows
The August 21 guide records OpenCode 1.18.21 connecting to Ollama and invoking read tools; both substantive small-model agent trials failed. This is the dated published Kingy test record, not a new execution. Its original versions, dates and limits still apply. See the retained Kingy demonstration.
Sources and buying-review date
Buying details checked October 22, 2026. Plan research uses current official sources; demonstration descriptions use the retained Kingy record and any captured creator chapters. No new subscription, paid generation or checkout was performed. The buying-review date does not renew every claim in the broader facts ledger.
