Private assets and model training are separate
Private-by-default asset visibility does not establish a no-training commitment. Section 4.4 of Runway’s standard terms permits inputs and outputs to be used to train and improve its models and related services, and grants rights for those uses.
Runway’s Enterprise guidance describes different contractual protections, including no-training commitments for third-party providers. Confirm the agreement and controls that apply to the account before uploading confidential footage or client references. Do not extend Enterprise terms to a self-serve subscription. This source review adds the missing training boundary; it is not a test of retention, privacy settings or a particular account contract.

Which plan is worth considering
The current Canadian browser display and official pricing-page USD structured data support Standard at US$15 monthly or US$144 annually (US$12/month equivalent), with 625 credits added each month. At the currently listed Gen-4.5 rate of 60 credits per five-second attempt, 625 credits cover ten whole five-second attempts if used only that way. That is not ten accepted shots. Pro has 2,250 monthly credits at US$35 monthly or US$336 annually.
Limits that affect the purchase
The official pricing FAQ says Standard and Pro credits reset each cycle without rollover; Max rolls up to one month and purchased credits do not expire. Upscaling a clip to 4K is not evidence of native 4K generation. Rates differ across models, and revisions consume budget. The API is a separate developer surface; this review does not resolve shared-credit eligibility for a particular account. A paid subscription does not supply rights to reference material you upload.
What the existing demonstration shows
In the older Kingy tutorial, Curtis reviews an animated perfume image around 2:20 and moves to background removal at 5:17, then shows the subject assembled over another background around 7:55. The narration names Gen-3 Alpha. Neither the vendor Gen-4 launch video embedded in another article nor this older recording establishes today’s Gen-4.5 success rate, speed or cost per usable shot. Historical interface
AI Magic Tools and Inpainting: where the old workflow went
Older Runway coverage used “AI Magic Tools” for standalone editing utilities. Inpainting was the object-removal workflow: a user brushed a mask over an unwanted subject, previewed the result and added keyframes where the mask needed correction. Runway’s preserved guide warns that heavy motion, low contrast, very large masked areas and missing background context could create artifacts.
That navigation is historical. Runway says it removed the All Tools page on April 10, 2026 and moved or deprecated several standalone Magic Tools. Its current deprecation table maps Inpainting to the Edit Video app. A separate preserved Inpainting guide says the old video-project editor retired on July 30, 2026 and points users to Edit Studio. Because Runway’s own help pages use different replacement labels, use the current Apps or Tool Mode interface as the final authority instead of following an old /ai-magic-tools/inpainting/ path.
Scope: Historical standalone-tool navigation and officially named replacements only. Kingy has not hands-on tested the current replacement workflow.
