Living Product Passport · Official-source buyer analysis

Claude review: pricing, privacy and plan limits

Claude is Anthropic’s general-purpose AI product for research, writing, analysis and coding. Its plan ladder is easy to quote—but usage limits, regional checkout, API billing and data handling need careful separation.

Kingy verdict

Claude is a strong fit for people who value clear writing, analysis and multi-step knowledge work. Free is useful for occasional use; Pro is the sensible individual baseline; Max is a capacity purchase, not a different model licence; Team adds administration and per-seat controls. Do not treat a Claude subscription as API credit or assume every chat has the same retention path.

Claude is the product—not the API or a model name

Anthropic provides Claude. Claude Code and Claude Cowork are separately named Anthropic products or capabilities that can be included with some Claude plans. Claude Platform/API is separately metered, while Opus, Sonnet, Haiku, Mythos and Fable are model families—not alternate names for the Claude product.

Best buyer job

Conversational research, analysis, drafting, coding and sustained knowledge work across web, desktop and mobile.

Important boundary

A Claude subscription is designed for Anthropic’s native apps and eligible included products. It does not include ordinary Anthropic API usage.

Official US-reference pricing

Plan Official reference Useful boundary
Free $0 USD Limited, demand-sensitive usage
Pro $20/month or $200/year Regular individual use; API billed separately
Max 5x $100/month Five times Pro capacity per session; weekly limits still apply
Max 20x $200/month Twenty times Pro capacity per session; weekly limits still apply
Team Standard $25/member/month or $20/member/month billed annually Minimum two members; US price excludes tax
Team Premium $125/member/month or $100/member/month billed annually Higher usage; minimum two members

These are official US-dollar reference prices, not a promise of Canadian checkout totals. Currency conversion, tax, app-store pricing, promotions and regional availability can change the amount shown to a buyer.

Web, desktop and mobile

Claude is available at claude.ai, on macOS and Windows desktop, and on iOS and Android. Free usage resets on a session basis every five hours, but the number of messages varies with demand and other limits. Max adds capacity rather than removing every cap.

Training choice does not erase every retention path

Consumer users can control model improvement in Privacy Settings. When enabled, de-identified chats or coding sessions may remain in training pipelines for up to five years. Incognito chats are not used to improve Claude. Deleted chats disappear from history immediately and are stated to leave back-end storage within 30 days.

Separate exception clocks matter: flagged inputs and outputs may be retained up to two years, safety classification scores up to seven years, and feedback-associated data for five years. Legal, dispute and policy-enforcement exceptions can apply.

Enabled integrations can receive inputs, outputs and instructions under their own privacy policies. Canadian personal data may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States.

Output rights are scoped, not a quality guarantee

The current consumer terms assign Anthropic’s rights, if any, in outputs to the user subject to compliance with those terms. They also warn that outputs and actions may be inaccurate. This passport does not convert that assignment into a blanket copyright, non-infringement or commercial-suitability guarantee.

Evidence and disclosure

Reviewer: Curtis Pyke. Nine current first-party Anthropic/Claude sources were reviewed signed out on August 30, 2026. This record contains 147 Product Facts and 147/147 direct evidence bindings. No paid checkout, account-specific quota test, API call, integration, data-deletion test or independent security audit was performed.

Artifact-specific disclosure

Kingy’s existing Claude tool, launch and shared video records are excluded from Product Facts evidence and independent-test claims. Shared video post 928275 is sponsored and disclosure-resolved in retained WordPress evidence, but its canonical artifact-specific publication audit remains incomplete. No commercial relationship is inferred beyond that exact retained record.

Claude buyer FAQ

Does Claude Pro include API usage?

No. Anthropic states that Pro is for the Claude chat experience and API usage is set up and billed separately.

What does Claude Pro cost?

The official reference is $20 USD monthly or $200 USD annually. Regional currency, tax and checkout pricing may differ.

Does Max remove all usage limits?

No. Max provides five or twenty times Pro capacity per session, with five-hour session resets and weekly limits.

Are consumer chats used for training?

Users choose the model-improvement setting. Feedback and safety-review exceptions remain, and Incognito chats are not used to improve Claude.

How quickly are deleted chats removed?

Anthropic says deletion removes a chat from history immediately and from back-end storage within 30 days, subject to stated legal and safety exceptions.
