How to Set It Up Right Now

Setting this up is genuinely easy. Like, embarrassingly easy.

Log into your ChatGPT account. Head to the Apps section in the sidebar. Search for “Tubi.” Hit Connect. Done.

From that point on, just tag @Tubi in any ChatGPT conversation and describe what you want to watch. The app pulls directly from Tubi’s library and serves up recommendations with direct links, as Pocket-lint confirmed after testing it firsthand.

You can go broad You can go specific. You can ask for “critically acclaimed sci-fi from the last decade” or “something creepy and foreign from the ’90s.” The more specific your prompt, the more tailored the results. Think of it less like a search bar and more like texting a friend who has seen everything.

Let’s talk scale for a second. Because the numbers here are staggering.

ChatGPT has over 400 million weekly active users — a figure OpenAI CEO Sam Altman disclosed in April 2025. That’s a massive audience. Most of them have probably never opened the Tubi app. But they’re already inside ChatGPT.

Get too specific — say, “critically acclaimed movies released in the past decade” — and ChatGPT might gently imply that Tubi isn’t quite the right platform for that request. Fair enough. Tubi’s strength is its depth of older, niche, and cult content. Not the latest Oscar contenders.

But here’s the thing: that’s actually useful information. The tool helps you understand what Tubi is — a treasure trove of hidden gems, not a Netflix competitor. Kondolojy ended up discovering that Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer was available on Tubi — a film she didn’t know was on the platform. That’s the magic moment this integration is designed to create.

CNET also noted that early user reactions on social media have been mostly positive, with many noting the recommendations felt surprisingly specific and on-target. It’s early days, but the initial response is encouraging.


This Is Bigger Than Just Tubi

Here’s where things get really interesting.

This integration isn’t just a cool feature. It’s a signal about where the entire entertainment industry is heading.

The way people find things to watch is fragmenting. It used to be channel surfing. Then it was browsing Netflix.
