Juniper Ink Map Cabinet
Imaginary-map reading register
Reader requests
The Juniper Ink Map Cabinet keeps maps of invented towns for a storytelling library. A reading request
identifies a folder and a study table. These maps depict fictional places and are not intended for navigation
outside the library.
Request window
Map requests open at 09:40. Readers give the folder identifier at the cabinet counter before taking a
seat.
Request limit
One reading request covers 4 map sheets. A folded sheet counts as one sheet even when its folds
create several visible panels.
First folder
A reader's first request uses the Wren folder. Staff explain the folder tabs and the sheet labels with that
example.
Flattening stage
During the fold-settle stage, sheets rest under the ivory rail. Staff remove the rail before allowing the
reader to turn a sheet.
Table practice
Readers use their own paper for notes. Nothing is written on a map sheet or placed inside a folder as a
bookmark.
Identity record
The request keeps the sheet identifier along with the folder name. A reader's description of a town does
not replace either identifier.
