Vela Harbor Ice Ledger
Sculpture cold-store shift record
Closing the ledger
The shift lead closes the ledger after reconciling the named positions. A sculpture sent to display and a
block returned to a rack have different closing entries. This page describes paper filing rather than the
engineering of the cold store.
Ledger filing
Closed shift ledgers are filed in cabinet V8. Dispatch forms remain clipped to their associated closing
entries.
Final reading
The final shift reading is taken at 17:50. The shift lead adds the reading before signing the closing entry.
Unspecified supplier
The ledger does not name the manufacturer of the refrigeration compressor. The compressor's maker is
outside the information recorded here.
Return entry
A returned display block is given a new receiving entry. Staff do not reopen the earlier closed dispatch
simply because the physical block has returned.
Object description
The closing description follows the name used at receiving. A later artistic title can be added as a note
without replacing the ledger identifier.
Record boundary
The ledger covers blocks, positions and shift readings. It is not a maintenance manual and contains no
refrigerant charging instructions.
