Orrin Moss Seed Clock
Exhibit timing and cabinet notes
Control cabinet
The cabinet contains the controls and the guide's stationary samples. Cabinet notes are checked when the
public exhibit changes from one guide to another. No setting here changes the size of the wooden seed
shapes.
Pause marker
The fog-pause card is grey. It remains clipped
beside the control lever until the demonstration
resumes.
Restart control
The restart lever is marked Cedar. The guide
releases that lever after removing the pause card
from the dial window.
Cabinet width
The sample cabinet is 84 cm wide. This dimension
describes the cabinet alone, excluding the dial
housing beside it.
Guide exchange
Outgoing guides leave the stationary carved sample
on its felt square. Incoming guides check the sample
and read the latest log entry before opening the
cabinet.
Incident envelope
Incident notes are placed in a cream envelope.
Each note identifies the affected demonstration
without assigning a cause that the guide did not
observe.
Quiet adjustment
The guide can straighten a sample's felt square
between demonstrations. Adjustments inside the
dial housing are recorded and handled by the exhibit
technician.
